The Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Union is a Canadian Martial Arts Service owned and operated by E.G. (Ed) Hiscoe, Hanshi, 9th Degree Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and Shihan Steve Hiscoe, 8th Degree Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt.

The main purpose of the C.J.J.U. is to provide Black Belt holders and Dojo owners across Canada and elsewhere in the World, an opportunity to become better and qualified Jiu-Jitsu teachers.

Home Study Correspondence Courses are available to those individuals who may reside in remote areas of Canada and/or in other geographical areas. 

Professor Georges Sylvain, 10th Degree Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and the founder of the Can-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu System, retired in 2008 after 50 years of teaching Jiu-Jitsu. He turned over the complete responsibilities of the Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Union's objectives, operations, management and administration to Ed Hiscoe, Hanshi.

Ed Hiscoe Hanshi, Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Union President, continues to operate and teach at his Dojo in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. and Shihan Steve Hiscoe, Vice President of the Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Union operates his Dojo in Chilliwack British Columbia.

Services available:

  • Provide promotional opportunities in achieving higher Black Belt Dan ranking;
  • Provide the means to achieve Levels 1-2-3 Teaching Diplomas and a Jiu-Jitsu Teaching License; 
  • Providing advice and assistance to Dojo owners with establishing their Jiu-Jitsu curriculum.
  • Provide advice and assistance in teaching skills;
  • Provide training opportunities in learning advanced Jiu-Jitsu techniques and skills;
  • DVD selection from the C.J.J.U. library about Jiu-Jitsu techniques, drills and teaching methods;
  • DVD selection from previous Black Belt Classes;
  • Provide self-defense self protection Seminar lesson plans;
  • Provide books, literature and information about Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense and self-protection;
  • Provide special Jiu-Jitsu training seminars on several various topics in your facilities.

Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Union members are issued an annual  Dojo Affiliation Certificate for display in members' Dojos.

The C.J.J.U. also provide basic instruction to individuals who wish to assist their children, other family members or themselves in how to protect themselves in the event of bullying or unprovoked assaults.        

It should be understood that there is no comparison in learning a sport style martial art and learning personal self-defense and self-protection skills. Can-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu has "NO RULES-ONLY RESULTS"!
