My name is Steven Hiscoe and I am the Vice-President of the Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Union.  My goal is provide our members with an organization which allows them to belong, learn and  progress in an honest and respectful manner.

My Story

Steven Hiscoe is the Vice-President of the Canadian Jiu-Jitsu in addition to being the owner and chief instructor of Hiscoe Jiu-Jitsu located in Chilliwack British Columbia.  Hiscoe Jiu-Jitsu was established in 1992 and continues to provided quality self-defense training to families in British Columbia's Fraser Valley area.

Soke Hiscoe is also a veteran police officer with over 30 years experience with Canada's National Police Force.  For the past 20 years he has focused his career in the area of police use of force.

Soke Hiscoe began his martial arts training in 1975 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  He was promoted to black belt in January 1983, along with his father, Hanshi Hiscoe.  This was the first time in Canada, a father and son had been promoted to black belt in Jiu-Jitsu.  On December 31st, 2020, Soke Hiscoe was promoted to 9th degree black belt in Can-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu.  This promotion was presented by the daughter of O'Sensei Georges Sylvain (founder of Can-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu) and awarded as per O'Sensei's wishes upon his death.
